Well respected for his considerable experience and in-depth knowledge of corporate restructuring and insolvency, Haroon Laher regularly advises banks and financial institutions, as well as creditors, insolvency practitioners and business rescue and turnaround practitioners, in corporate restructuring, turnaround and insolvency issues. His experience covers a broad range of industry sectors, which include energy, mining and commodities, telecommunications, retail and agriculture.

Haroon has experience in helping financially distressed companies to recover business performance or deal with a lender’s decision to move a loan to “workout” or “recovery”. He provides clear advice concerning directors’ duties during distressed situations when the solvency status is marginal. His communications with key stakeholders is well thought through, planned and managed – all driven to develop a workable and sustainable restructuring solution and supporting incremental value. He balances solutions through a formal and informal restructuring processes. Haroon also regularly serves as independent chairperson of committees of creditors in formal restructurings, in line with international standards. Haroon is the head of Fasken’s Corporate Restructuring and Insolvency practice.
