Khanya Ndzululeka is a Chartered Accountant with a Master of Commerce in Development Finance and a CFA Certificate in ESG Investing. She is the Co-Founder of Mustard Finance Group, a fintech focused on unlocking working capital for small businesses across South Africa. She has built her career at the intersection of finance, technology and entrepreneurship, with a particular passion for using innovative financing models to support entrepreneurs who are often underserved by traditional financial institutions.<\/p>
At Mustard Finance, Khanya has focused on building financing solutions around the real-world ecosystems in which SMMEs operate. The business began in the informal retail economy, providing working capital solutions to spaza shops through partnerships with wholesalers. This remains a core part of Mustard Finance’s work, with wholesale partners including Big Save Cash & Carry, Devland Cash & Carry and Cambridge Foods, collectively providing access to more than 100,000 informal SMMEs.<\/p>
Mustard Finance has since extended this approach across a range of other SMME ecosystems. The business has integrated with global platforms including Uber and Zulzi, using its Kilomita product to provide fuel working capital solutions to e-hailing drivers across the country. It has also integrated with Freshmark Systems, a technology provider deeply embedded in South Africa’s fresh produce market infrastructure, whose platform trades approximately 2 500 000 tons of produce annually and drives sales across more than 20 markets nationally. Freshmark’s systems support the day-to-day operations of these markets and through this integration, Mustard Finance is able to use this rich transactional ecosystem to provide working capital solutions to fresh produce traders, helping them access funding aligned to the way they actually trade.<\/p>
Mustard Finance’s work also extends into corporate supply chains. The business has partnered directly with Thungela, Wetility and with 4PL Logistics, a leading Southern African supply chain group that runs a mix of owned and subcontracted fleet across road, rail and air freight. Through these partnerships, Mustard has provided working capital solutions such as Purchase Order Funding and Invoice Discounting to their supplier and subcontractor bases and has supported SMMEs operating within ecosystems connected to businesses including Takealot, Makro and the University of Johannesburg, to name a few. <\/p>
What connects these verticals is a single conviction: that every SMME already sits inside an ecosystem that knows how it trades, and that funding built on that evidence, whether it comes from a wholesaler, a market floor, a delivery platform or a corporate procurement system, reaches entrepreneurs that collateral-based lending never will.<\/p>
Khanya is passionate about using finance as a tool to rewrite Africa’s story and to give entrepreneurs meaningful pathways to create value for themselves, their families and their communities.<\/p>
