Bernie van Niekerk has been involved in all strategic aspects of world-class procurement and supply chain management consulting since 1996 when he joined Ernst & Young. He would go on to found South Africa’s first e-Procurement exchange which was sold to an international e-Procurement company Izodia. In 2001, he started Commerce Edge which specializes in world-class procurement and supply chain training, education and coaching. In 2003, under his direction, created smartprocurement.co.za, Africa’s largest newsletter and information portal for procurement professionals with over 30 000 readers. In 2006, he directed launched Smart Procurement World, SA’s leading procurement & inbound supply chain event. Now in its 15th year, Smart Procurement World attracts over 3000 attendees every year. Bernie is the Publishing Editor of The SmartProcurement Review, an African thought leadership publication dealing with leading trends in procurement and inbound supply chain management.
