Steven Kenyon

Chief Director: Local Government Public Finance, Western Cape Government

Steven Kenyon is the Chief Director for Local Government Public Finance in the Western Cape Provincial Treasury. He is responsible for coordinating the province’s oversight of municipal finances, including intervening in municipalities in financial crisis. He holds a master’s degree in public policy from the University of Cape Town. He has previously worked at the National Treasury where he led the review of the local government equitable share formula and a review of local government infrastructure grants and was responsible for the coordination of the intergovernmental process to produce the annual Division of Revenue Bill. Steven was also a Mandela Washington Fellow in 2017.
