Jaco Coetzee started his career in the Western Cape Department of Health on 16 November 1990 and has built a broad career across finance, audit, loss control, hospital administration, information management, and supply chain governance. His early career included extensive operational finance and audit exposure, before moving into a Head of Finance role at facility level in 2000.
In 2002, he was part of the development and rollout team for the Clinicom patient information system, which strengthened his practical understanding of how digital systems can support frontline health service delivery. In 2005, he moved into Information Management at a psychiatric hospital, further expanding his experience in data, reporting, and operational decision support.
In 2009, he was appointed as Deputy Director and Head of Hospital Administration, strengthening his experience in institutional operations, systems, governance, and service delivery support.
In 2015, Jaco moved to Head Office SCM Governance: Systems, where he became part of key digital transformation initiatives, including the implementation of the Electronic Procurement Solution. In 2019, he played a leading role in establishing the Asset Verification Project Team, which has since evolved into a broader data analytics and business intelligence capability supporting asset management, procurement insight, system integration, governance improvement, and evidence-based decision-making across the Department.
