Kristy Evans is the Executive Director of the Groote Schuur Hospital Trust (GSH Trust), an independent non profit that mobilises private funding to strengthen public healthcare at Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town. Under her leadership, the Trust has raised close to R50 million in its first four years to support critical equipment, infrastructure, and innovative healthcare programmes at the hospital and across the Metro West platform.
Working at the intersection of philanthropy and public healthcare, Kristy has practical experience navigating procurement in the public health sector, particularly where it intersects with private funding and donor priorities. Through the Trust’s work, she has experienced the good, bad and ugly of procurement in action, balancing governance, compliance, urgency, and implementation, and brings practical insights to the Facility Boards and Trusts in the Commons session.
