Ms Nonhlanhla Anda Nkosi is the newly appointed Deputy Director General Corporate Support Services at the Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness. She was previously Chief Director for Strategy, where she provided strategic leadership across strategy, policy and planning; health intelligence; information technology and digital transformation; as well as assurance functions. She has previously also been the Chief Director – Financial Management in the department.
Anda’s career spans more than two decades in financial management, strategic leadership, and governance, with senior roles in both the Eastern Cape Provincial Treasury and Department of Health. She has been instrumental in shaping systems that strengthen accountability, risk management, and service delivery in the public health sector.
Her academic background includes a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration (Cum Laude) and Master of Business Administration (Cum Laude) both from Nelson Mandela University. She is also a Certified Fraud Examiner and an alumna of the UCT’s Women in Global Health Leadership Fellowship Programme.
Beyond government, Anda is the President of the Moravian Church Foundation, a Dutch based foundation based in Amsterdam (the Netherlands), and is a Supervisory Board Member and Chairperson of the Governance & Remuneration Committees of Kersten Holdings, a group of companies based in Suriname, in South America.
A passionate woman leader, Anda’s commitment to public service is deeply rooted in her rural upbringing and in advancing an equitable and person-centred health system. She brings a combination of strategic insight, financial stewardship, humility, and values-based leadership.
