Profile
- Ernie currently provides consultancy services to Commerce Edge and has previously provided consultancy service to the PSA Group and ADR, South Africa.
- His interests cover various programmes including developing and facilitating training courses in Procurement Management, Strategic Sourcing, Contract Management, Legal Aspects of Procurement, Supplier Relationship Management, Ethics in Procurement, Stores & Stock Control, including developing a 9-week on-line programme in Stores & Stock Control for which he is the Assessor and Tutor, Tender Specification Writing, and various In-House Training Programmes.
- Prior to becoming a consultant, he held the position of Contracts & Procurement Manager for the largest Oil Refinery in the Southern Hemisphere, Shell & BP South African Petroleum Refineries (SAPREF).
- He has over 30 years’ experience in procurement in the Petrochemical sector and has gained many years’ experiences lecturing in Purchasing Supply Management courses at Varsity College and development of the said courses for the Independent Institute of Education (IIE).
- He has also lectured in various levels of Procurement & Supply Chain Management courses at a number of National & independent learning institutions.
- Part of his role as Contract & Procurement Manager at SAPREF was training staff & key contractors in various Shell Global strategic procurement & contract management skills.
Ernie has national qualifications in Purchasing Management, Materials Handling, Work Study and Production Management. He obtained an LLB degree from Unisa in 1995.

Lecturing and facilitating programs have covered:
The design and development of a Purchasing & Supply Management course for the IIE including setting, marking & moderating of National Examination papers.
Lecturing in various Short Learning Programmes in Stocks & Stores Control, Inventory Management, Principles of Procurement, International Purchasing, Purchasing Management, and Strategic Procurement & Supply Management at PSM (Purchasing & Supply Management) College.
Lecturing in National Diploma courses in Purchasing Management and Materials Handling at Natal Technicon and M L Sultan College (Now known as Durban University of Technology)
Develop & facilitate Learning Programmes in specialised Procurement & Warehousing for “In House” training, seminars & workshops.
