Recognised for his strategic foresight, global networks, and transformative impact, he has consistently redefined how organisations capture value, embed technology, and deliver sustainable growth.At Tiger Brands, one of Africa’s most prominent listed FMCG companies, Prajay leads the Group’s Procurement Strategy, overseeing more than R12.5 billion ($720 million) in spend across Packaging, Ingredients, IT, Logistics, Media Buying, Capex & MRO, Enterprise Development, Facilities, ESG, Safety & Security, and Human Resources. Among these, he is also leading procurement for what will be one of the largest bakery’s in Africa, a strategically critical development within Tiger’s Bakeries division and one of the most significant food-production projects on the continent.
He has repositioned procurement into a strategic growth enabler, embedding a federated, digitally enabled operating model that enhances governance, agility, and commercial performance across the Group. As a member of the Digital Transformation & AI Committee, Prajay is spearheading digital transformation across the Group. He was also selected to be part of a group of eight senior leaders — chosen from around 100 across the organisation — for Tiger’s elite “ReImagine” senior leadership programme, designed to shape the company’s future C-suite.
Prajay’s leadership has strengthened Tiger’s supplier ecosystem, advanced sustainability and enterprise development, and established procurement as a platform for innovation and resilience. His expertise has earned him international recognition, including delivering a keynote at the prestigious CEO Summit in Mozambique, attended by Africa’s leading CEOs, being a regular panel interview speaker at Smart Procurement World — South Africa’s largest procurement conference, and being nominated to speak at the Zycus Horizon Summit in California in November 2025. In 2024, he was named Transformation Leader in Supply Chain & Procurement at the South African Leadership Awards, cementing his status as one of the country’s most influential voices in the field.
At Standard Bank, Prajay first supported the Director of Country Risk in rolling out the operations, processes, and systems that established the function across 20 African countries as well as New York, London, Hong Kong, and Brazil. This achievement built his reputation for operational excellence and governance, directly leading to his appointment as Head of Procurement for Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB).
As Head of Procurement for CIB, he held a global mandate, overseeing procurement across Africa and international hubs, where he unlocked more than R2 billion in value through strategic sourcing, vendor management, and cross-border negotiations. His leadership embedded world-class procurement frameworks and positioned procurement as a driver of strategic and commercial outcomes in a highly regulated international banking environment.
Earlier in his career at Standard Bank, he also gained investment banking experience managing the credit portfolios of multinational clients, a role that strengthened his financial acumen and global commercial perspective.
At Cell C, Prajay bridged procurement excellence with digital reinvention. As Head of Procurement, he managed a R6 billion portfolio, introducing world-class Source-to-Pay systems and frameworks that professionalised procurement and ensured operational rigour.
He was subsequently appointed Head of Digital Products & Strategic Partnerships, where he supported the company’s pivot from telecommunications to a technology-driven organisation, launching digital platforms that unlocked new revenue streams and repositioned the business for the digital economy.
Beyond the corporate sphere, Prajay is a proven entrepreneur, having founded businesses in e-commerce, hospitality, jewellery, real estate, and international trade. He also created an entrepreneurship training platform that directly tackles youth unemployment by equipping individuals with digital and business skills. Many of its alumni — previously unemployed — now run successful online businesses, showcasing his commitment to inclusive growth and economic transformation.
