Simphiwe Mbonambi is currently a Senior Manager within Eskom Distribution’s procurement and supply chain function. She is a highly experienced supply chain executive with over 20 years’ experience across State-Owned Enterprises, utilities, and asset-intensive, safety-critical industries — energy, water, rail manufacturing, and industrial development. She has served at executive level in various capacities including Divisional CPO at Eskom Distribution, accountable for an annual procurement spend of ±R12 billion, with a strong track record of sourcing savings and inventory optimisation delivered throughout her career. Under her leadership, Eskom has realised over R500 million in procurement savings and achieved a R1 billion reduction in inventory, reflecting her commitment to efficiency, and value creation.
She holds an MBA from the University of Reading (UK), with research focused on public procurement within the energy industry, an Honours in Logistics and an undergraduate qualification in Supply Chain Management. A Certified Executive Coach and member of CIPS and COMENSA, Simphiwe is deeply passionate about developing the next generation of supply chain leaders.
