Silindile Pepi Zungu is a strong advocate and enthusiast for South Africa’s Just Energy Transition, with a particular interest in how the transition can move beyond decarbonisation to drive inclusive economic growth, industrialisation, local value creation and meaningful participation across energy value chains.
Pepi is the South African Country Director at Genesis Energy Group, a pan-African energy infrastructure developer focused on power, gas and renewable energy solutions. She has over a decade of experience spanning energy infrastructure, business development, stakeholder engagement, investment facilitation and strategic communications.
In addition to her country leadership role, Pepi serves as Acting Director: Marketing and Corporate Communications, where she leads corporate positioning, brand strategy, strategic communications and market-facing engagement aligned with Genesis Energy Group’s growth objectives. Her work sits at the intersection of energy infrastructure development, private-sector investment, strategic partnerships and stakeholder engagement, with a focus on advancing bankable energy projects and strengthening opportunities across the energy value chain.
Her career spans both the public and private sectors, including roles within development agencies, Special Economic Zones and business incubation, giving her a multidisciplinary understanding of South Africa’s industrial, infrastructure and energy ecosystem. This experience has shaped her interest in the intersection between energy transition, investment, industrialisation, localisation and inclusive economic development.
Pepi holds an Honours Bachelor of Commerce in Transport Economics, a Bachelor of Commerce in Transport Economics and Logistics, a PRINCE2® Practitioner Certificate in Project Management, and a Data Analysis certification from the University of Cape Town. She is currently completing a Master’s degree in Energy Leadership at the University of the Witwatersrand.
